Rain Coast Choir's Feel the Beat Showcase will feature songs by Fleetwood Mac, Serena Ryder, Spoon and more! We have spent this season focusing on rooting in our bodies and tapping into rhythm, and we can’t wait to feel the beat!
The showcase will take place at the WISE Hall in East Vancouver. We’re thrilled to feature special performances by Leo D.E Johnson and Joline Baylis.
RAIN COAST CHOIR
Rain Coast Choir is a non-auditioned, 5-part Rock/Pop choir based in East Vancouver, BC and led by Joline Baylis. We create fine-tuned vocal arrangements of classic songs and current favourites. Over the years, we’ve sung songs by David Bowie, The Tragically Hip, Fiona Apple, Neil Young, Bahamas, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and more!
This season we have chosen songs that help us connect with our bodies’ felt sense of rhythm, with themes of remembering the wild within us. We can’t wait to share a magical night of music at our Feel the Beat Showcase.
LEO D.E JOHNSON
Leo D.E Johnson (He/Him) is a trans, Black, Scotian artist whose music is a transcendent blend of Spiritual Soul and Galactic Gospel, infused with gritty West Coast Grunge. Futuristic by design, listeners are lifted to higher realms igniting the spirit with its infectious energy.
Leo draws inspiration from his diverse experiences and cultural influences, infusing his music with a unique blend of soulful storytelling and powerful messages of resilience, joy and hope. Currently residing in the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, Leo is dedicated to honouring and amplifying Indigenous, Black, and Queer voices, advocating for social justice and equality. Their music channels themes of self-discovery and identity, with a magnetic presence on stage Leo's unapologetic authenticity serves as a guiding light for meaningful change, uniting listeners through a transformative musical journey that radiates LOVE. Sit back and enjoy the reflection and let’s celebrate the power of music!
JOLINE BAYLIS
An accomplished singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Joline Baylis captivates audiences with her soulful voice and poignant lyrics. Her performances are intimate and magnetic - whether playing solo in a stripped-down acoustic setting or commanding the stage with a full band, Joline's passion and vulnerability leave a lasting impression.
Following the release of “Break Me Down,” Baylis found herself facing a series of challenges that called for solitude and healing. Surrendered to a quieting of the creative fire, Joline kept the embers warm while tending to her recovery. Today, a new chapter unfolds as Joline enjoys a resurgence of creative energy. Delving into uncharted sonic territory as she incorporates electric guitar and piano into her writing process, Joline’s new music reflects the depth of her experiences and the resilience of her spirit.
